Question from Dennison: Asked on 20/03/2026 I'm looking at buying a laptop from LaptopsDirect that has a secondary unused SODIMM slot. Will the extended warranty be affected if I were to take the backplate off the laptop and install another RAM module in the unused slot?

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 20/03/2026

Hi, Installing additional RAM in a laptop that has a user-accessible SODIMM slot is generally considered a standard upgrade and will not in itself void the UCOVER 3 Year Total Warranty Extension, provided no damage is caused and no manufacturer or repair seals are broken; however, as outlined in the UCOVER terms, any “unauthorised modifications” to the equipment or damage resulting from installation may not be covered, and if a tamper or manufacturer seal is present and is broken, this could invalidate the warranty, so while RAM upgrades are typically acceptable, they should be carried out carefully and in line with the device’s intended user-access design to ensure warranty coverage remains unaffected.

Thank you.

Question from Tilak: Asked on 09/10/2025 If the parts are there will and you fix will I need to pay?

Answer from RogelReyes: Answered on 10/10/2025

Hi Tilak, if the required parts are available and the repair is covered under your uCover plan, you will not need to pay anything; parts and labour are included. However, please visit this link to see the coverage: https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/files/pdf/ucover_terms_3yr.pdf. Thank you.
