It supports surround sound over S/PDIF or HDMI, you would need an external sound card if you wanted to plug each speaker into it's own output.

when connected to a tv via hdmi to view a movie you will be able to get the full hd signal out from it providing your tv supports it

This model comes with Vista home premium which uses a completely different set of drivers to XP. You may be able to do it but would need to contact Sony to check on that one. Vista Business on the other hand does use the same drivers and therefore its just a case of popping in the downgrade disc and installing the OS to downgrade.

It would be fine for video editing, as for Flight Sim, I have never played it so I dont know what the best settings would be, although I am sure it would work well. You'd be better off asking that on a Flight Sim website, and linking to this product.

It will be able to play spore, but not at top resolution. It has a good graphics card for a laptop but it will still lack some of the power that desktop graphics cards have.

The graphics card, albeit a good one for laptops, isn't quite up to the standard of desktop cards yet but will play the latest games. It does come with 512MB of dedicated ram.

The graphics card in this model is NVidia Geforce 8600M GT (512mb) it is an improvement on your current model it has 200 more MHZ but other than that their about the same.
If you're looking for a like for like rreplacement this would be a good choice but if you want one that will be a drastic improvement you may need to look at another model.

It is the limitation of a 32 bit operating system, there is no way around it other than to use a 64 bit operating system, which will become more widespread and supported in the future.
