Port Configuration
The C9200L-48T-4G-E offers 48 fixed 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports designed for data-only connectivity. These ports are ideal for connecting end-user devices such as computers, printers, and non-powered network appliances. In addition, the switch includes 4 fixed 1G SFP uplink ports, which provide flexible options for connecting to aggregation switches or core networks using fiber or copper transceivers.
No PoE Support
This model is part of the data-only lineup in the Catalyst 9200L series, meaning it does not support Power over Ethernet (PoE or PoE+). It's best suited for environments where devices like IP phones, wireless access points, or surveillance cameras are powered separately or not required.
UADP 2.0 Mini ASIC
Built on Cisco’s Unified Access Data Plane (UADP) 2.0 Mini ASIC, this switch delivers high-performance packet processing with integrated CPU capabilities. The architecture supports advanced features like Layer 3 routing, security, and automation while maintaining energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness for branch and campus deployments.
Enhanced Security
Security is a core strength of the Catalyst 9200L series. This model supports AES-128 MACsec encryption, which secures traffic at the hardware level. It also includes Trustworthy Systems features such as secure boot, image signing, and runtime defenses to ensure the integrity of both hardware and software. These protections help prevent unauthorized access and maintain compliance with enterprise security standards.
Layer 3 Routing
The switch supports dynamic Layer 3 routing protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and ISIS. This enables more intelligent traffic management across networks, allowing for efficient routing between VLANs and across subnets. It also supports static routing and policy-based routing, making it versatile for complex network topologies.
Network Monitoring
With Full Flexible NetFlow, the switch provides granular visibility into network traffic patterns. This feature allows administrators to monitor bandwidth usage, detect anomalies, and optimize performance. Combined with streaming telemetry, it supports real-time analytics and proactive troubleshooting.
Stacking Capability
The C9200L-48T-4G-E supports optional stacking using Cisco StackWise-160 technology, offering up to 160 Gbps of stacking bandwidth. This allows multiple switches to be managed as a single logical unit, simplifying configuration, management, and redundancy. Stacking also enhances scalability and high availability in enterprise environments.
Software & Management
Running on Cisco IOS XE, the switch supports model-driven programmability, open APIs, and automation tools. It integrates seamlessly with Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly DNA Center) for centralized management and policy enforcement. The switch requires a Cisco DNA Essentials license to unlock advanced features such as software-defined access, telemetry, and assurance capabilities.
