It is better to get an engineer to fit this for you, as you can damage the machine and invalidate the warranty. This memory should work, if correctly fitted as a pair.

Yes it is compatible. There are two ram slots in the laptop so you can just pop it into the other slot and have 3GB RAM.

I'd check with tosh but I believe that model is capable of taking 4GB Ram although if its not running a 64 bit operating system then you'll only use arounf 3.2GB of the 4GB Ram so I'd upgrade to 3GB not 4GB.

You'll need to check with HP on what ram it takes. If its a fairly recent model, within the last 12 months, there's a good chance the ram will be DDR2, but without the details I don't what to say for sure.

It doesnt say what the maximum RAM speed is, it might work at higher speeds, it might refuse to boot, or it might run, but still at 667mhz. You often get different results with different makes of RAM so it's probably best to stick with the speed that you know does work, 667mhz.

The RAM is usually located under a removable panel on the underside of the laptop. With more RAM, you can do more things at once without experiencing any slowdowns.

Upgrading the RAM will not affect the contents of your Hard-Drive. Laptops generally have two RAM slots, so it depends on the configuration of your existing memory - If it is 2x 512mb modules, then you will only be able to install 2.5gb instead of 3gb. If it is 1GB module on its own, then 3GB won't be a problem. You should check this before buying as you may wish to consider your options and buy an extra 1GB or 2GB module.

If you purchase this as part of a bundle that includes fitting then we will install this memory alongside existing 2GB modules to increase system memory to 4GB where possible. If you add this to your shopping cart yourself, you will have to install the memory yourself (it's simple to do and does not void the warranty). It depends entirely on the specification of the laptop and existing memory whether the existing memory has to be removed or not.
