“It's not the devices that are difficult. It's everything around them.”
It's about spending differently: a managed programme, supported by parent contributions, instead of a one-off capital purchase, which frees that capital for something else.
Getting real value from AI tools, for staff as well as pupils, needs devices that can actually run them. An ageing estate quietly caps what your school can do, and a planned refresh cycle stops that happening again.
Edutech's model is built around equal access regardless of household income: the same tools as their peers, at school and at home, with no device comparison.
Edutech Choices brings the moving parts of a school device programme together into one structured journey, supporting the school, parents and programme operations throughout.

Three parties, three clear jobs. Your team doesn't chase parents for money.
Parents
Monthly or as a one-off, by Direct Debit. Contributions go towards the school's managed device programme, not a consumer purchase, with support for families who need it.
Edutech
Edutech manages the parent contribution and Direct Debit process, including parent communications and administration, so school staff aren't left chasing individual families. Support+ looks after families.
Your school
The school owns the devices through the programme term, approves every order and sees contributions received and any payment issues in Elevate. Build in Pupil Premium, bursary or sibling support if you choose to.
One platform for your school or trust, one journey for parents and one place for families to get help. You'll see all three live in the session.
Screens from Edutech's platform, shown with demonstration data.
A consistent device for every pupil, so teachers can plan around technology with confidence.
The same device goes home, so learning carries on and no one is left out.
Orders are coordinated and devices prepared to fit the school's requirements.
A set repair and claim workflow, loan devices in the meantime, and replacement if a covered device is beyond repair.
Laptops Direct provides the technology. Edutech provides the programme infrastructure around it, from parent contributions and deployment through to protection, support, programme management and reporting.
Parent contributions, school approval for every order, and clear end-of-programme options.
Accidental damage and mechanical breakdown cover, with clear terms for budget planning.
A dedicated route for programme and device help, so questions don't land with your staff.
One place to manage and oversee the programme, from contributions, devices and users to protection claims, loan devices, support and reporting.
The tasks that land on your desk, and the ones that don't. Most of it isn't what people expect.
How contributions are collected, and who deals with it when one stops.
See Elevate, the parent journey and Support+ in action. Not slides, the real thing.
Uptake, admin time, and the parts that got tricky. Including the schools it didn't suit.
You don't need to know which product you need. Start with the problem.
Academies and multi-academy trusts, whether you've run a 1:1 programme before or you're starting from nothing. Half the schools we've spoken to have already tried some version of this. The session is built for both.
For trusts, the same programme runs across every school, with trust-wide and school-level reporting.
Answered by Edutech, from the questions schools actually ask them. Can't see yours? The last 10 minutes of the session are there for exactly that.
Very little. Edutech manages the parent journey, contribution collection, Direct Debit administration, parent communications and ongoing programme support.
Schools retain oversight and control through Elevate, Edutech's programme management and reporting platform, while we take care of the day-to-day administration behind the programme.
Every school community is different. Edutech Choices supports whatever arrangements a school or MAT wants to provide, including Free School Meals and Pupil Premium support, bursaries, school-funded contributions and additional support for families with multiple siblings.
These arrangements can be built into the programme, helping schools create an inclusive approach without having to manage multiple processes manually, helping ensure that financial circumstances aren't a barrier to participation.
Edutech manages the contribution and Direct Debit process, including parent communications and payment administration, so school staff aren't left chasing individual families.
Each month, the school or MAT receives a detailed disbursement report, providing complete transparency of contributions received and highlighting any payment issues that may require attention.
Our support team manages parent communication and follow-up in the first instance. If we're unable to contact a parent, or the situation requires input from the school or MAT, we have established escalation processes in place so that the appropriate team can support the next steps.
Many schools come to us with an existing process. Choices brings the different elements together into one managed programme including parent onboarding, contributions, device deployment, protection, support, administration and reporting.
The aim isn't to replace what may already be working. It's to remove manual processes, reduce the burden on school teams and make the programme easier to manage, support and scale.
Yes. Choices can be configured around how your MAT wants to operate.
For MATs wanting a centralised approach, we can provide one trust-wide programme covering multiple schools. Parents simply select their child's school during sign-up. The relevant school then sees its own orders for approval and reporting, while the MAT has centralised visibility across all participating schools, with reporting broken down by school.
Alternatively, some MATs prefer individual programmes for each school, for example where schools launch at different times, have different requirements or the MAT simply prefers greater local autonomy. We can support this approach too, while maintaining consistency across areas such as device specifications and programme structure where required.
Elevate supports both models, providing the appropriate level of central MAT oversight alongside localised school-level access and reporting.
Yes. Choices isn't a one-size-fits-all programme.
We work with each school or MAT to establish its device requirements, contribution structure, eligibility and family-support arrangements, programme dates and other requirements. The parent journey and administration can then be configured around those decisions.
Many schools prefer all students to use the same technology because it creates a consistent teaching, learning and support environment. However, Choices can also include a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) option where the school or MAT wishes to offer one.
The school sets the minimum device specification, usually aligned with the technology being provided through the Choices programme. This helps ensure that personally provided devices are suitable for the school's teaching and learning requirements.
Parents choosing BYOD must also agree to the device being enrolled into the school's device-management environment, where required, so that the school's safeguarding, monitoring, security and technical requirements can be applied while the device is being used within the school environment.
This gives families who already have a suitable device an alternative route while allowing the school to maintain the consistent, safe and managed technology environment it needs.
The school owns the devices throughout the programme term and retains control of how they are managed within its safeguarding and educational environment.
Parent contributions are made towards the school's managed device programme rather than the purchase of an individual device and, provided the required contributions have been made, ownership of the device will transfer to the parent at the end of the programme.
Devices are protected through Edutech Shield, covering accidental damage and mechanical breakdown with £0 excess.
For accidental damage, cover is provided up to the retail price of the device in each 12-month period, with the cover limit resetting each year. This means multiple accidental-damage claims can be made during the programme, provided the total value of claims in each year does not exceed the device's retail value.
Mechanical breakdown claims are not subject to this annual accidental-damage limit.
Parents can access help through Support+, providing a straightforward route for reporting an issue and arranging assessment, repair or, where the device is beyond economical repair, replacement.
Loss and theft aren't covered by Edutech Shield. This is a deliberate approach based on our experience of managing school device programmes.
In a student environment, it can be extremely difficult to distinguish between genuine loss, a device being misplaced and situations where a device has been left unattended. Including this type of cover can significantly increase the cost of protection for every family.
Where theft is suspected, the school and family should follow their normal safeguarding procedures and report the incident to the police where appropriate.
Shield is instead focused on the risks families are far more likely to need support with, accidental damage and mechanical breakdown, providing comprehensive protection with £0 excess.
Parents have access to Support+, Edutech's dedicated support service for programme enquiries, live advisor chat and accidental damage and warranty issues.
Many common requirements can be handled through automated support journeys, with human support available whenever required. This means routine parent enquiries don't have to become additional work for school IT and administration teams.
Schools and MATs have access to Elevate, Edutech's programme management and reporting platform, providing real-time visibility and control throughout the programme.
Through Elevate, authorised users can access order and deployment reporting, financial administration and contribution information, disbursement reporting, device and programme data, and protection claims management. Schools can see claims as they are raised and track their progress, giving them visibility of the support being provided to their families and devices.
Dashboards, analytics and reporting bring key programme information together in one place, helping schools understand participation, financial performance, device support and other programme activity without relying on multiple spreadsheets or separate systems.
For multi-academy trusts, access can be structured so the MAT has centralised visibility across all participating schools, while individual schools see and manage the information relevant to their own students and programme.
No. Choices is a school-managed technology programme, not consumer finance for parents to purchase a device, and it isn't designed for that purpose.
The principle behind Choices is simple: students should have access to the right technology, when their learning needs it, not technology for technology's sake.
Choices is therefore not about giving parents access to discounted or inexpensive devices. It provides schools and MATs with a fully managed educational technology service, designed around their teaching, learning, safeguarding and operational requirements.
Depending on the programme, this can include the device and accessories such as a protective case and stylus, safeguarding and monitoring software, device management and licensing, accidental damage and mechanical breakdown protection, deployment, asset management and provisioning, ongoing parent support and programme administration.
Parent contributions help the school provide and operate this complete managed programme. The device is one component of the service, not the service itself, and the school remains in control of the programme and its devices throughout the programme term.
