Questions & Answers

19/08/2009 Sarah: does the laptop come with a manufacturer's guarantee along with your own 3 month warranty? thanks

Chris: Hi this laptop only comes with our in-house 3 month guarantee, hope that is a help to you.

29/04/2009 DD: Can you burn CD's & DVD's on this Laptop ? Any picture/photo packages installed ? Tks

David J: Yes you can burn CDs and DVDs with the computer. There is no software packages for photos pre installed other than the windows picture viewer

09/04/2009 Liam: You stated that this laptop can't play games like the Sims. Can you replace the graphics card to support game play?

David J: Unfortunatley no, it is not possible to upgrade laptops in this way

06/04/2009 paul: does this laptop have a wireless card???

SteveF: Yes it does.

03/04/2009 Jim: With this not having a dedicated graphics card, would it be ok to play DVD movies?

dave: Yes

19/03/2009 David R: You mention that Vista come pre-installed on this machine and no windows CD is provided. In the event of a failure of the operating system is there a recovery partition or other means of restoring the operating system.

dave: You Can Purchase A Recovery DVD Please Call For Details.

19/03/2009 Shane: Hi,

Not the most knowledgeable when it comes to computers interiors/graphics cards etc. so my question may seem stupid, but no harm in asking.

It's noted above that this machine would not be ideal for games such as the sims, etc. but, in your opinion, do you think it would be capable of fluently playing emulators like the SEGA Mega Drive or the SNES (ie; really old videogames)?

Also, i've rad the description, and not being fully understanding of the jargon used, can you tell me, how would this laptop get on in the sun (that is; would i be looking at a reflection of myself, or would i be able to make out what im doing)?

I understand that may be an odd question, but a friend of mine has a laptop, and when out and about, it practically is useless, as you can't see a thing on it. Another friend, however, could write an email whilst sitting on the sun itself, if he wanted to (Well.. slight exaggeration).

Finally, can you tell me what kind of (fully charged) battery life this woul

David J: Yes this would be fine for games emulators like the ones you mentioned. It has a glossy screen some you would get some reflection. The battery life is around 2-3 hours.

14/03/2009 jon: is this machine suitable for playing games such as "the sims" etc.?

David J: Not really, you would need a machine with a dedicated graphics cards for this

12/03/2009 Charlie B: What size case would I need to order if I want a slip for this machine?
Would the Belkin 15.4" do (F8N048EABR) or do I need to order the less well-fitting Belkin 17" to be sure (F8N049EABR)?

David J: a 15.4 inch case will be fine for this laptop

11/03/2009 Mohammed: Does it come along with the Windows Vista Home Edition CD, If its pre installed then how do we register for the software, or if the Vista serial in on the machine itself

david s: All systems come with everything preinstalled so no disk is included and every machine has a vista key with it.

22/02/2009 lorna: Can i plug this laptop into my tv?

David J: Yes, this laptop can be plugged into a TV via a VGA connection

16/02/2009 voodoorider: you have several of these? Are the exteriors?? Scratched?

SteveF: No, its a batch of refurbished laptops we've bought from the manufacturer. A1 models are generally ex-display or warranty returns with minor faults. As an example, If the ram was faulty, Sony would replace it and then sell the laptops to us as A1 refurbs.

14/02/2009 sam: does it have a standard dvd writer or is it dual layer

SteveF: Its a standard DVD burner on that model.

14/02/2009 andye: Might seem a silly question but its says refurbished grade A1 so why would i need to pay a extra £40 to have it pre inspected if its in A1 condition?

SteveF: The pre-delivery inspection is mainly a set up with a hard ware and dead pixel check. Even though its A1, something like dead pixels don't count as a warranty fault, so if we find them, we take the hit and get another laptop sent out for you.

13/02/2009 CL: Does this laptop have a card reader and if so what type of memory cards are supported

SteveF: Yes, its a 5 in 1 card reader.

11/02/2009 Andy M: What is the max ram you can install?

SteveF: Its 4GB max.

02/02/2009 Marty: The spec quoted for this model is the sam as thesony nr-32 m/s.
What is the correct spec for this model?
Also, are both models in stock?

SteveF: That is the correct spec. The other sony has a slightly slower processor and less HD. We have both models in stock.

01/02/2009 FC: Hi it says below that it doesn't have bluetooth included. Could I buy this as an extra and installed before shipping? If so how much more would it cost?

SteveF: you can buy a bluetooth dongle for very little which will plug into your usb slot. We can't install this in the machine for you though.

24/01/2009 graham: there is no mention of USB or firewire ports

SteveF: It has two USB ports and one firewire.

19/01/2009 Liz: What operating product does this laptop use - I would prefer XP?

David J: This laptop will come with Vista Home Premium

14/01/2009 jm: hav webcam

david s: no

13/01/2009 Pamela: Does this machine have a dedicated graphics card and does it have bluetooth?

SteveF: The graphics card is a shared Intel x3100 and no bluetooth I'm afraid.
