Question from Sharun: Asked on 01/11/2008 I want to know what a refurbished laptops are. I saw that they are cheaply priced, what's the difference between them and a normal laptop. Would it affect its performance in anyway?

Answer from Matt: Answered on 04/11/2008
Refurbished ones have been repaired by the manufacturer and come in "as new" condition.

Question from Gemma: Asked on 31/10/2008 If the laptops are brand new, why would there be any dud pixels? And therefore why should we need to pay for the laptop to be 'checked'?

Answer from Matt: Answered on 04/11/2008
There are set tolerance limits for dead pixels which vary by manufacturer, if the number of deal pixels falls under this limit then they are not classed as faulty. Often, people who have a screen with a dead pixel or two dont even notice, and they might only be visible occasionally if you look really hard. Others are glaringly obvious and these would be classed as faulty if they clearly interfere with the viewing experience.

Question from Gemma: Asked on 31/10/2008 Does this laptop have a reflective screen or matt screen?

Answer from Matt: Answered on 04/11/2008
It's the glassy type, which Acer call 'CrystalBrite'.

Thanks.

No, the graphics card is integrated so you will struggle with any game above solitaire. You would need to look for something with a dedicated card for gaming so have a look at the 5920 range.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 30/11/2007
Both are similar specifications and so would offer similar performance, I would base my choice on the screen size I wanted, as one has a 14" screen and so more portable than the 17". However the 17" is ideal for watching DVD's and gaming.
