Question from Curtis: Asked on 17/06/2010 What does optical drive mean?

Answer from simon: Answered on 18/06/2010
A device for reading discs on which data is stored.

They use a light laser which detects bumps and dips on the surface of a disc. these bumps and dips make up binary code which is interpreted by a computer of some sort.

Optical drives include CD / DVD / Blu-Ray Disc readers or writers, as well as the already obselete HD DVD players
