Easycom: If you purchase this as part of a bundle that includes fitting then we will install this memory alongside existing 2GB modules to increase system memory to 4GB where possible. If you add this to your shopping cart yourself, you will have to install the memory yourself (it's simple to do and does not void the warranty). It depends entirely on the specification of the laptop and existing memory whether the existing memory has to be removed or not.

8-Apr-2008 Steve: I have a HP 530 with 1GB. Can I insert this 2GB to give me 3GB or does it replace the 1GB loaded? Also, will I have to back up my software and documenst or does replacing the RAM not affect this? Thanks.

Easycom: Upgrading the RAM will not affect the contents of your Hard-Drive. Laptops generally have two RAM slots, so it depends on the configuration of your existing memory - If it is 2x 512mb modules, then you will only be able to install 2.5gb instead of 3gb. If it is 1GB module on its own, then 3GB won't be a problem. You should check this before buying as you may wish to consider your options and buy an extra 1GB or 2GB module.

Easycom: The RAM is usually located under a removable panel on the underside of the laptop. With more RAM, you can do more things at once without experiencing any slowdowns.
