Questions & Answers

11/02/2011 jamie pemberton: Hi i am looking at getting this as i am downgrading from a mac, i know its not going to be as good as a mac but how well would it manage running vuze to download music videos and the like? plus run the internet aswell? thanks... jamie

vicki: This is purely an internet browser and not suitable for mutiltasking or to be used as a sustitute for a full spec laptop. The programs you mentioned will not run on this machine.

07/02/2011 dadsincharge: OK, can you still sync an IPhone 4 to iTunes and rip a CD into iTunes (with a USB CDR) on these Netbooks

vicki : yes you can but performance will be really poor on netbooks.

06/02/2011 DadsinCharge: One other question. My wife uses Olympus Master to d/load photos from camera and does the Red Eye reduction thing. It is not memory intensive. also we use Serif DTP software and this creates PDF (similar to Acrobat) This too is not memory intensive - would this cope with this if we upgraded to 2GB memory (is 2GB the max) How well does it cope with ripping a CD into iTunes (external CD required I know)

vicki: I would strongly suggest going for a full size laptop as you are limited as to what you can do on these netbooks as they are purely designed to surf the internet only.

29/01/2011 dadsincharge: Hi, How will it cope with streaming 720p movies to a PS3

simon: it would do it but wouldn't recomend alot of mulit tasking at the same time

23/01/2011 Me: How much to upgrade to 2GB memory?

simon: £39.97 included fitting, call sales if you want to order.

12/01/2011 pre- 1900s mother: Sorry to ask such stupid questions but i havnt a clue when it comes to pc.I am looking to buy my 17 year old a netbook/notebook? she needs it for school work and i think she needs to beable to put things on a usb thing to take to school.would she be able to go onto the internet ? facebook? How would i purchase microsoft or word?? would she need that? please help

simon: All netbooks and notebooks come with WiFi as standard and they all have at least one usb port. If she is going to be using documents for school and homework she would need Microsoft Office, you can buy it on a card that will licence one machine for £79.97 or on a disc to licence 3 different machines for £91.88.
Please feel free to contact our retail sales team for purchasing.

31/12/2010 Dom Scott: Is it possible to 'link' to another computers optical drive & so load software?

I already have Office / Word... can I load it this way? Any way round the expensive purchase of another Microsoft office

simon: No, it's not possible to 'link' to another computers optical drive & so load software. You can download a trial version of Office from the Internet then enter your licence key if your licence would allow use on other computers. If not you would need to buy Office again such as if you had a OEM licence.

28/12/2010 Keith: Hi can this product come supplied with internal hsdpa to take a sim card, if not can you please recomend a similar spec machine/ price which does. Thanks

simon: Sorry no 3G/HSDPA but have the A1/LU.S070B.001 with this feature.

10/12/2010 Martin: Could this be used with a 3G dongle for internet connection? If not could you recommend a netbook that can? Thanks.

simon: It will work with any Netbook with Windows 7 or XP
