Question from Matt_C: Asked on 15/07/2009 Hi, am looking for a machine to use for home recording where CPU throttling / fan cooling can, I understand, be an issue. Can the CPU be forced to run at full speed from Windows to avoid audio drop-outs and can the cooling scheme be disabled if necessary? Thanks.

Answer from SteveF: Answered on 17/07/2009
The operating system is the same as the desktop varients and so if cpu throttling is possible on that then it will be on a laptop. As for fan cooling, I understand the issue with recording audio and the sound interference from a fan but as laptops are crammed into small cases compared to desktops, turning the fan off could result in the unit setting on fire. As an example, one major manufacturer stoped calling laptops laptops and called them notebooks due to the chance of them setting on fire on someones lap and thus causing a law suite.

Question from m111: Asked on 30/06/2009 is this laptop has webcam
