There is no technical information regarding battery life for this product as yet. You would be able to connect peripherals however a card reader means you can insert memory cards directly into the machine rather than attaching these peripherals.

A card reader reads memory cards you may have for other devices such as digital cameras or camcorders etc. They aren't important however they do save time over connecting a device to the laptop rather than just inserting the memory card.
