The FW21 is Sonys entry into the world of Hi-Def, 16:9 ratio notebooks with a Blu-ray drive and a screen resolution of 1600 x 900 to make sure none of the detail is left out.
But don't let the opening lines about one of the best screens on the market put you off from studying the other impressive specs on this machine.
With one of the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors clocking in at 2.4Ghz and a full 4GB of memory, there's not much out there that runs faster than this Olympic champion.
A 400GB hard drive has more than enough room to store all your movies for instant playback and the ATI HD 3470 dedicated graphics card means all graphical applications are displayed as they were meant to be.
As for the looks, the smooth, curved lines of the VAIO FW series notebook are as functional as they are attractive. From the iconic cylindrical hinge to the sloping bezel where the keyboard meets the display, every last inch of this notebook is designed to maximize viewing area while minimizing size. It is an innovative PC with a 16.4" LCD that combines all the benefits of a 17" widescreen display with the dimensions or "footprint" of a smaller 15.4" model.
Oh and there's Bluetooth and a 1.3MP Webcam to mention before I run out of room, but I did warn you that this notebook is much more than a pretty screen.

Question from Ralph: Asked on 06/03/2009 I am also dithering on the edge of buying the Sony VAIO FW21M but surprisingly the hard drive speed seems a little low as is the case for higher spec machines in this range. What would you recommend?
Question from Niall: Asked on 04/01/2009 Hi. The Sony Vaio FW21M has a good spec but hard drive speed of 4,200 seems very low by todays standards. Is this correct and/or can it be upgraded?
