No this wont take DDR3 RAM and you would not be able to put a 2nd hard drive in the laptop

I believe you can get a PCMCIA card that will give you s-video or firewire should you need it.

There isn't really a laptop out there that will run crysis on the top setting but this will run it as well as any other. As it has a dedicated graphics card and dual core processor it will be able to handle the design software you mention without any problems.
