Easycom: If these 2.35:1 movies are all that are played on this TV, and for an extended amount of time (eg. always on), then this is likely (as with all TVs). For general movie viewing, you will have no problems.

jeremy: you will get a better picture, naturally, with a full HD set. a standard 42" plasma has a resolution of 1024x768, where as a 1080p panel is 1920x1080, so nearly twice the number of pixels

jeremy: conflicting info from Samsung. According to their website its 30,000 but the info sheets, we've had from Samsung say 20,000... We've set our specs up based on the info we have had directly from Samsung... either way, if you were to look at a TV with 20,000 along side a set that is 30,000:1 you wouldn't be able to see any differences with your eyeee
