8-Sep-2008 Lucy: I have two more questions about the Trial version of MS Office 2007. 1. If I want to buy the full version when the trial runs out, am I restricted as to how I must do this? For example would I have to use a particular supplier (perhaps Microsoft itself) and would I only be sold one license instead of three. Or, am I free to buy the retail version (with its three licenses) from you, for example? 2. How much of the software has been installed in the trial version?

Easycom: When the trial runs out you can buy whatever copy you'd like to get going again such as the three license version we sell. The trial is generally the full office suite.

Easycom: This is an excellent laptop for the basics and will do all of the tasks you mentioned. Microsoft office comes as a trial on the machine but for permanent use you would need to purchase it separately.

peterh: Yes - MSN Messenger (now re-named Windows Live Messenger) does not have any special requirements, and will run perfectly well on this laptop.

Easycom: The 1.8GHz Celeron is designed to take less power and produce less heat than its desktop counterparts, and will not perform as well as a 3Ghz Pentium4 in CPU-intensive applications - but it is still extremely capable, and you will not notice any difference in most applications.

Easycom: The RAM can be upgraded to 2GB after sales, the hard-drive can be upgraded but this will void the warranty (so we do not offer this service). Bluetooth functionality can be added via a bluetooth USB dongle, and unfortunately it is not possible to add HDMI ports. The graphics card is integrated into the mainboard and can not be upgraded.

30-Jul-2008 Dean: When the operating system comes pre-installed on this laptop how can I get a disc with the OS in case I need to reinstall. Can I simply use another disc and then input the licence number which will of course be on the laptop?

Easycom: Most acer laptops come with Acer eRecovery software, which allows you to create a 'Recovery Disc' or 'Recovery Partition' which you can then use to re-install the OS from scratch. This 5315 includes this software as standard.

Easycom: Yes, the 5315 supports 2GB without a problem. You will also notice a considerable performance increase as the 5315 supports dual channel RAM support, which uses both ram DIMMS simultaneously to effectively double memory bandwidth.

Easycom: Vista Home Basic is the operating system and so will last for the life of the laptop. Microsoft office trials generally last 30 days and then you will need to buy the full software.

Easycom: This laptop will be fine for playing internet bingo. To get a wireless connection to the internet, you would need a wireless router if you haven't got one already. Once set up the laptop should then pick up the wireless connection automatically.
