11-Jun-2007 Ian: I'm considering buying the laptop, but have heard that the hard drive slows the overall performance of the machine. Ideally, I'd like to upgrade to a 7200 rpm disk, 100 - 120 GB. Would your company be able to do this for me? I'll be installing a dual boot system with Linux, so I wouldn't care if the new hard drive was unformatted, as long as the package includes sufficient disks. Does it come with a full Vista DVD, or just a recovery disk?

Easycom: Unfortunately we cannot offer this model with a faster hard disc. The notebook comes with a restore partition as it is quicker to restore the notebook.

Easycom: This has 256MB of dedicated graphics memory, it could have been a slightly different model with a 512MB graphics card. There is an Asus flyer for the G1 series in general which says "Up to 512MB Graphics".

Easycom: If you contact Asus support they will mail a restore DVD to you, though any authorized repair centre will reinstall the restore partition as part of the repair or upgrade.

29-Nov-2007 jsap: Hello I am currently looking at either the Rock Pegasus 670 without the HDD drive and this asus G1. They are both almost identical in spec, except this has a lower graphics card. I would like to know if this would be sufficient to play Crysis, Call of duty 4 and world of warcraft would be the games i would most likely play. Finaly which one would you recomend as the better laptop. Any advice would be much aprechiated thanks

Easycom: This depends on which Rock laptop you are looking at, all three laptops will play the latest games. If I were looking for a gaming laptop, with all the specifications been very similar and have the same graphics card, I would chose the one with the fastest processor even if it had less RAM as RAM is far easier to upgrade than a processor in a laptop.

Easycom: Should be fine for a Kensington Pocket Combosaver. Unfornately it is not possible to upgrade the hard drive.
