If it is finding your router then your router is already wireless. Ensure your router is on a wireless mode that your laptop supports and ensure your laptop wireless software is given the right security details that you have set up on your router (WEP or WPA key). Your router may also be set to restrict wireless devices unless their MAC addresses are added to an 'allowed list' on the router. You can find the MAC address on the bottom of the laptop.

Your broadband connection should already come with a cable modem, which connects to computers via an ethernet port, USB or wireless connection, depending on the modem. All modern laptops have an ethernet port and multiple USB ports.
