27-Nov-2007 Paul: Please can you tell me which is the better machine the Aspire 7720G-1A2G24Mi-LX.ALNOX.249 @599.00 or the Aspire 5920 Gemstone LX.AKVOX.146 @549.00. I am looking to mainly surf the net general emails, but most importantly burn to disc from a camcorder so firewire port as you had previously advised is very important. I know one has a larger screen & larger HD & possibly a better graphics card, though am a little confused as to which one is more appropraite before I buy in time for Xmas present. Your views & choice would be greatly appreciated

Easycom: Either will be fine surfing the net and email, for videos i would recommend the one with the larger hard drive as video files are quite large and so will fill up your hard drive faster.

Easycom: Unfortunately we cannot do this upgrade. However the only way you can add this is to add a new optical drive.

Easycom: It is a 6 cell battery, an 8 cell could be addded however this would have to be as a separate purchase. Yes it is a santa rosa processor, it does have a webcam and can read and write DVD's

Easycom: This laptop (like most laptops) has an RJ45 ethernet socket so that it can be plugged into routers/switches/modems using a network cable known as an 'Ethernet Patch Cable'.

Easycom: There are lots of different 7720G's with different specifications, they can be identified by the stock code starting with LX.

Easycom: It has 256MB dedicated memory, with turbocache up to 1GB.

Easycom: It is still a perfect option for graphics, video editing and gamming. The graphics card itself has processing power and 1.5 GHz is not too bad speed. It is good speed Core 2 Duo processor. I think it is a good machine in this price which can run heavy graphics programmes and games. It's not a button, just a green bit of plastic that says Aspire on it.

11-May-2008 James: Hello I have a question. dose acer have the ability to change the operating system on the Acer Aspire 7720G-1A2G24Mi from windows vista back to windows xp. because i am interested in the laptop but i do not wish to have windows vista as the operating system. mainly due to the fact i currently use programs and games that are not compatible with vista. so i am wondering if acer are willing to downgrade their laptops?

Easycom: Yes you can install windowsXP. You need to find out its hard drive drivers.
