13-Aug-2008 Chris: What is the "Bio-metric scanner/fingerprint reader" used for on this laptop? Is it how it sounds or I imagine and is used as an additional security feature to stop unauthorised persons from accessing the laptop as a whole? Please help as my partner very dearly would like this laptop and I would like to purchase one for her as a present.

Easycom: Yes, the fingerprint scanner can be configured to require a fingerprint-scan at the boot-up process and will restrict access to the operating system and files if a valid fingerprint is not given. It can also be set up to hold your passwords for websites and programs, so instead of typing your password in every time, you simply scan your finger instead. All these features are optional and can be disabled or configured to your needs.

SteveF: if you alerady have a TV license then no. If you don't you'll need one. The wireless router plugs into your normal modem and is pretty automatic to set up fro that point on.

SteveF: It won't effect the network. Think of it as just changing the way the information is transmitted to the laptop. One way does it through a cable, the other sends it via a signal. The result is not changed, the laptop still picks up the internet.

8-Nov-2007 Samba: Can you have confirm whether Vista is ok to use now if not so, is it possible to provide Windows XP Professional Downgrade. I'm intereseted to take Vista but I'm jsut wondered this verison is reay verison to use and confirmed by Microsft.

Easycom: Vista now works fine. There is also due a service pack out which will fix all the bugs you have been hearing about.
