Comments, Questions and Answers

Main Product Comments, Questions and Answers

19-May-2007 Vicky: Which do you think is better, this computer or the 5103WLMi? I am looking for a fast computer.

Easycom: The Aspire 5613 will be slightly faster.

21-May-2007 Conor: Is this Laptop good enought to play Football manager 2007 comfortably without any hiccups,or would i require something with a better graphics card,i.e 128mb+,and if so can u recommend such a latop

Easycom: The laptop would be fine.

31-Jul-2007 Onu-zap: Both the 5613AWLMi and the 5633WLMi have near enough the same specs, besides the processors (which from another question you replied as giving the same performance), so which one is worth it? Another concern is that you replied to rupen "The Aspire 5633WLMi will be significantly faster due to the Core 2 processor" however you replied to me that the Core Duo T2350 and the Core 2 Duo T5500 give out similar performance, i think you have mislead me and potentially other people.

Easycom: OK, I will try and clear this up for everyone, the difference between the two notebook is the processor one has a Core Duo the other a Core 2 Duo. For 2D tasks, such as web surfing and office tasks there will be no discernable difference between the two notebooks. For 3D uses such as gaming and CAD design the Core 2 Duo will offer a slightly higher frame rate.

10-Aug-2007 Chris: I am interested in this laptop for 3 purposes - word processing at uni (which it obviously can handle) music recording/video editing and gaming - can it easily handle music recording software such as cubase and video editing software such as adobe premiere? Also, could this easily run The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and Half-life 2 without any trouble? My budget is £600 max, is the 5613AWLMi the best laptop for me? Thanks

Easycom: Yes it would be fine.

23-Aug-2007 Iain: Although you do not supply the discs for the Vista operating system, with this machine are you able to perform a re-install, returning the machine back to its factory delivered settings (in case I clog it up with too much stuff and want to start again).

Easycom: The laptop comes with a restore partition rather than CDs as it is quicker to restore and impossible to loose. You can however order a recovery disc from ourselves. Please call the sales team for more details.

30-Aug-2007 Harry: Making my first computer/laptop purchase so this may be a stupid question but does this model come with any wordprocessing, etc such as Works?

Easycom: Microsoft Office is not preinstalled on the notebook however it can be purchased with a laptop as a discounted OEM version. Please call the sales team for more advice.

1-Sep-2007 DaveF: Hi I am interested in this laptop but had been looking at the lx.ay30x.091 that now shows sold out (will more be coming in?)because it was core 2 as opposed to duo core only. My daughter needs it for her university studies in garden / landscape design that will include some 2D and 3D graphic design work applications and photo image editing. How good is the graphics package in this model and what would you recommend?

Easycom: The GeForce Go 7300 graphics card in this laptop is capable of handling the most demanding of tasks as it offers excellent 3D performance for both gaming and more significantly in your case CAD design.

9-Nov-2007 paul: hi im looking at getting one of these laptops but what is the difference between them is one better than the other they are both the same price at £499.97 Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AY30X.049 Acer Aspire 5613AWLMi - LX.AY50X.062

Easycom: I'd reccomend the LX.AY30X.049 as it has a quicker processor.

9-Nov-2007 Ian: Does the graphics chip support Open GL software applications (Solidworks and Cosmos). If not, what notebook would you suggest?

Easycom: Yes this graphics should work fine.

11-Dec-2007 joe: This may be a long shot but do you think this will run crysis? thanks

Easycom: No, if you want to run this game you will need to look for a laptop with a better graphics card supporting direct X10.

17-Dec-2007 E.D: Will this computer play Medal of Honor Airborne smoothly without lagg. Thanks !!

Easycom: It will run, however for improved performance I would recommend looking at a laptop with a faster processor and a dedicated graphics card with more dedicated memory.

18-Dec-2007 'kdsnifgor8hg: Is the RAM expandable to 4GB?

Easycom: Unfortunately there isn't any technical information regarding this available however I do believe the max memory is 2GB

13-Aug-2007 Rob: Bought This laptop last week mainly for WOW (which looks awesome on the higher detail) and DVD editing - outstanding product/spec at a fantastic price. Next day delivery and also a free phone - dont delay - buy today and spoil yourself!!

11-Jul-2007 James: I have bought one of these Laptops and it is just unbelievable. I run all sorts of games / apps on it and it has never stalled once. Vista runs like a dream and I haven't had any of the problems in the media. Put it this way, I'm running Aero + Wireless internet + The burning crusade on full detail and it is faster than my desktop. Windows Media centre is fairly good also. 12/10 for this laptop. Best one I've ever bought.

21-May-2007 Conor: This Laptop is a steal at the current price, especially with 2GB of ram,The only problem(for me anyway)is the graphics card would be a bit small/slow,Would it be possible to upgrade this conponent to say maybe 128mb or even 256mb,obviously by paying more, would it have a space for a better card in other words

Easycom: Unfortunately we can not upgrade the graphics card.

20-May-2007 Shaz: How much graphics memory does the NVIDA GeForce Go 7300 card have as it is not clear in the specifications? Can it be upgraded and can you do it before delivery?

Easycom: Unfortunately we can not upgrade the graphics card.

1-Jun-2007 Leigh: Im not a keen buyer on the internet, so will pcworld or other uk shops stock this laptop Aspire 5613AWLMifor a similar price? thanks.

Easycom: Probably not, but you could visit our warehouse or buy over the phone if you dont want to order online!

7-Jun-2007 Jess: Is it possible to have windows xp rather than vista?

Easycom: The laptop si only available with the operating system listed.

11-Jun-2007 Jay: Hi. Is the Windows Vista DVD fully boxed or is it just an OEM copy?

Easycom: It is an OEM copy

4-Jun-2007 artur: has this laptop 1.3webcam build in, not sure if the pictures are coret to this model (it is aspire 5630 on photos)

Easycom: There is no webcam on this notebook.

6-Jun-2007 Brian James: I need a computor for graphic design,to run adobe photoshop cs3 & Illustrator, would this be the right machine,or do I need a more powerfull graphics card?

Easycom: This notebook would be ok. One with a dedicated graphics card would be slightly more responsive in use.

9-Jun-2007 Dave: Will this laptop be good enought to play the game FEAR?

Easycom: Yes

4-Jun-2007 Rob: Will this laptop run World of Warcraft at a reasonable performance and graphics quality. I dont mind dropping the qraphics a bit if it means it will run smoothly.

Easycom: Yes

30-May-2007 alleric: what will autocad run like on this laptop and will i be able to play the latest games

Easycom: Will run fine and yes you can

26-May-2007 Haz: I note that the spec says it has 2GB of fast DDR Ram, I assume this means DDR 1 and not DDR 2?

Easycom: The notebook uses DDR2 memory.

31-May-2007 paul: Hi. How much graphics does this machine have? the acer 5633 also has an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300, but in the spec it shows 128mb dedicated. On this model it shows only 64. Are there different versions of the GeForce Go 7300 or something? I would buy this if you can confirm 128mb dedicated graphics. Confused. Thanks.

Easycom: This is a turbo cache card which has 64MB dedicated but offers the performance of a 256MB card thanks to the fast DDR2 system memory.

2-Jun-2007 Mark: How much graphics memory does the NVIDA GeForce Go 7300 card have?

Easycom: The laptop has a Nvidia GeForce 7300 graphics card with 256MB TurboCache memory.

27-May-2007 Simon: Does the laptop have Bluetooth and how fast is the wireless adaptor?

Easycom: There is no Bluetooth

8-Jun-2007 skoembs: Which laptop would you reccommend? This one, or the 5633WLMi - LX.AXY0X.068? This model boasts superior graphics, twice the RAM and higher clock speed, although the 5633 has The Core 2 Duo. The laptop will be used for multitasking, processor intensive engineering applications and occasional gaming. Also the webcam on the other model looks like a good deal.

Easycom: Think this 5613AWLMi Aspire might be the best bet in this case.

3-Jun-2007 David: How does the laptop run FPS games on the graphics card? such as CSS, would this run smooth? or be jolty!

Easycom: Would be fine

1-Jun-2007 david: can you explain the graphics capabilities of this model as several people have asked and has not been answered clearly, is it up to playing latest games (such as warcraft). I am not clear of how much is 'onboard' and how much is dedicated?

Easycom: yes it can

Easycom: Yes it would be fine

11-Jun-2007 Neil: Will the graphics on this machine support forthcoming games like World In Conflict and other high quality graphic games?

Easycom: Yes it will

1-Jun-2007 leigh: One last question, would this laptop be good enough for me to play sims 2 on it, and to create music, by DI my guitar and also DI an sm57 mic, or could I plug in a mixer to the mic/line in, thanks again.

Easycom: Yes it would be fine

12-Jun-2007 Enty14: Which is better NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 TurboCache supporting 256MB or ati radeon x2300?

Easycom: They offer a similar level of performance.

12-Jun-2007 Carl: is the operating system good for gaming? as i have heard the drivers for vista are pretty rubbish and so many current games suffer hugely. plus it tends to need a huge lot of hardware. i'm just concerned as i have heard bad press about this OP

Easycom: Newly released software always tends to have a few initial problems however these tend to be ifxed quickly. Nonetheless we would still recommend purchasing a Vista notebook as it is significantly better then XP.

18-Jun-2007 Paul: Does this laptop have a 'normal' modem and standard connection for dial up as the ACER laptop I saw in PC world didn't appear to have a modem at all

Easycom: The laptop has a standard modem port.

25-Jun-2007 Steve: How would this laptop perform running of Lord of The Rings Online. On high detail and smooth? or maybe even not at all?

Easycom: The notebook would easily handle playing any current 3D game.

27-Jun-2007 Geebee: which pc is better to work with animation? This one or the 9303?

Easycom: The Aspire 5613AWLMi

24-Jun-2007 Geebee: Which one is better In terms of performance) to work with animation: this or the 9303WSMi?

Easycom: This 5613AWLMi would be the best choice.

Easycom: The 7400 card will offer a little bit more performance but I would not say it was a significant difference. However other aspects of the machine are likely to justify the additional cost.

2-Jul-2007 Aaron: Hi, I'm trying to pick between the Acer Aspire 5613AWLMi and Toshiba Satellite Pro P100-160. I need a good all-rounder and like the build quality of Toshibas but have heard that it can have a few issues with running Vista. Which would you suggest/recommend (or are there any others which I should be looking at)?

Easycom: We have had no problems with our stock in relation to Vista. Personally I would probably go for the Acer.

30-Jun-2007 Pazuno: Does it come with Norton Antivirus Pre-installed, or can you do it seperately?

Easycom: Norton is available in the software section of our website.

24-Jun-2007 Martin: Hi, As this laptop runs the windows vista o/s, would my Cannon i850 printer still work ok, or would I need to download new drivers?

Easycom: You may need new drivers the best thing to do is to check the manufactures website.

3-Jul-2007 Ben: Does this laptop have a TV output (S-Video), if not is there anyway of connecting it to a TV.

Easycom: There is a S-video and VGA output on this laptop.

30-Jun-2007 Myllie: Does Microsoft Word, Excel & Access come with the whole package within Windows Vista? I use Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark Express, but on my last laptop (a very old one), they ran very slowly - will this one be ok? And will I be able to save large picture files on it? I will also be using the laptop mainly for surfing the internet, saving photos onto the desktop and burning CDs.

Easycom: The laptop will be fine for what you want to do however Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint) are not included with the laptop.

22-Jun-2007 ryanpaarman: Would the game run Medievil 2 Total War okay? Thats probably one of the most demanding games at the moment.

Easycom: Yes it would

24-Jun-2007 martin: Is the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 Card classed as a dedicated, a shared or an integrated graphics card? Would the Toshiba Satellite P100-160 offer better graphics capabilities with its Intel GMA 950 128mb card?

Easycom: The Acer will offer much better graphics performance due to the Nvidid card fitted. The card uses TurboCache memory which is a combination of dedicated and shared memory.

28-Jun-2007 Pazuno: All this for quite a cheap price (2gb ram, good processor, lots of hardrive space), is there anything missing in this product to make it cheap.

Easycom: Nope, this notebook is just on special at the moment.

5-Jul-2007 Pete: Can I buy a spare battery or a more powerful battery. If so what is the price? Also why are AC adaptors offered? Does it mean we can't recharge the laptop battery without buying a separate charger? Thanks

Easycom: The battery can be charge in situ, additional Ac adaptors are offered as they are popular amongst business users who often leave a spare charge at home and another in the office.

16-Jul-2007 rob: Is this a 32 bit or 64 bit system?

Easycom: This is a 32bit system

20-Jul-2007 dave: which 1 wood be the best 4 playing games on the 5613 awlmi or the samsunng r70 santa rosa

Easycom: The Acer model offers excellent screen quality with a wide viewing angle while the Santa Rosa R70s is a faster notebook. There is however a significant price difference.

20-Jul-2007 Byron: Does this laaptop come with a charger or is that separate?

Easycom: The power charger, battery and a UK warranty is included with this notebook.

21-Jul-2007 Byron: Do you have to buy the charger separate or is it included in the price?

Easycom: The power charger, battery and a UK warranty is included with this notebook.

23-Jul-2007 Lewis: What is the difference between the core duo processor that this offers and the later core 2 duo that others offer, does it affect the performance alot? Also I know its a big question but is Intel's core duo technology that it offers better than AMD competition at the same price?

Easycom: The Core 2 Duo processor offers slightly more performance than a Core Duo with the same clock speed. Core 2 Duo processors offer more battery life and also on chip Virtualization. Intel processors generally run cooler than AMD and therefore come in thinner notebooks which run cooler.

25-Jul-2007 rupen: Hi, I have seen that the acer 5633 also uses a GeForce Go 7300 graphics chip set, yet the 5613 uses a 64mb version. Will there be any noticable difference in the performance of the computer when playing games and completing demanding tasks? Also, the same question, but about the processors. What will the noticable difference be with a the Intel Core Duo 2350 Processor as opposed to the core 2 duo version of the 5633? Thanks

Easycom: The Aspire 5633WLMi will be significantly faster due to the Core 2 processor and the additional graphics memory.

24-Jul-2007 dave: What extra kit would you need to watch freeview through media centre on vista?

Easycom: You need to get a USB digital TV tuner available in the notebook accessories section.

25-Jul-2007 tevion: What extra kit would you need to watch freeview through media centre and wot is the picture like and do you need a house ariel on it .

Easycom: All you would need is a digital USB TV tuner.

26-Jul-2007 Nathan: Would this laptop be able to play football manager 2007 perfectly fine and footnall manager 2008 which released in a few months time

Easycom: Yes it will be fine

30-Jul-2007 Matt: Excluding the difference in RAM between this and the Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AY30X.091, which would perform better in regards to graphics? What speed does this processor run at and is it dual core?

Easycom: The Aspire 5613WLMi offers the best graphics performance thanks to the dedicated TurboCache graphics card and the additional memory. The 5633WLMi will offers slightly more battery life as it is a Core 2 Duo processor but if graphics are your main concern the 5613WLMi would be the most suitable.

29-Jul-2007 Madsalty: I am interested in this laptop although the graphics bothers me. Will the graphics card (when used with 256mb turbo cache) offer enough performance to play games such as Call of duty 2, Tiger Woods 07, Fear and doom3 at high levels of detail?

Easycom: The laptop will be fine for playing all current games due to the Nvidia graphics card.

29-Jul-2007 Jack: would the graphics card be able to run Direct X 10?

Easycom: This is currently only a Direct X 9 compatible graphics card.

29-Jul-2007 Jack: Would this laptop play Halo 2 Vista and Shadowrun Vista without any problems

Easycom: Yes it will be fine

30-Jul-2007 Mike: How would this laptop fair with 3D animation and redering programs such as Maya when considering the Graphics card is only 64MB dedicated? Can you recomend a 128MB dedicated alternative?

Easycom: This notebook would be fine due to the TurboCache graphics card.

1-Aug-2007 Mbarrow: What are the main differences between this (Acer Aspire 5613AWLMi - LX.AY50X.062) and the Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AY30X.049) bar the built in cam and £100. I want a laptop that will multi task without losing performance and I wont be using it much for gaming.

Easycom: Either laptop will be adequate though the Aspire 5633 has a web cam and a more power efficient Core 2 Duo processor so it will offer more battery life.

14-Aug-2007 Nat: I'm trying to decide between this laptop (Acer Aspire 5613AWLMi - LX.AY50X.062), the Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AXX0X.246 and the Acer TravelMate 5720G-302G16 LX.TK30X.033. I'm looking for a laptop for home use, with heavy internet/downloading usage, general tasks in Excel etc and a lot of music / movie usage. My main concern with the 5613 is that it doesn't have the Core 2 Duo chip but I like the higher (1.8 Ghz) processor speed - how will this compare in performance to the 5633 which uses a new Core 2 Duo chip but only has a 1.66 Ghz chip? The 5720 is obviously a good all-rounder but I would like to keep the price down if possible and am concerned about whether the 5613 would meet all my needs and not be heaps slower than a Core 2 Duo model. Thanks.

Easycom: The Aspire 563WLMi model will offer slightly more performance and a longer battery life due to the Core 2 processor so I would suggest one of them would be best.

7-Aug-2007 jacob: could this laptops play battlefield 2 and oblivion

Easycom: Yes it would be fine

7-Aug-2007 Paul: I need a laptop that will be able to comfortably handle 3D modelling and rendering programs such as SketchUp and 3D StudioMax, aswell as being good for music and possibly games. My choices are between the 9303WSMi(LX.AWR0X.44), 5103WLMi (LX.AX80X.112) and 5613AWLMi (LX.AY50X.062). Which one of these would you recommend for both performance and value for money?

Easycom: This Aspire LX.AY50X.062 offers the best performance and value for money.

10-Aug-2007 George: Will this have a fast connection to the internet. My router is Netgear rangemax. My broadband speed on main computer is 6.5

Easycom: Yes it will

3-Aug-2007 safc: Would this machine be suitable to handle video and photo editing? I'm currently looking at this and the 5103. Which of the two, if any, would be best suited for this?

Easycom: This model would be the best bet.

17-Aug-2007 Al: I'm looking at buying a laptop and have narrowed it down to this model and the Acer TM 5720G-101G16, which do you think is the better model (the integrated camera is something I don't really need)

Easycom: The Acer TravelMate 5720G is a more powerful notebook which I would recommend if you do not mind paying the extra.

6-Aug-2007 jimroy: What is the ACTUAL graphics card memory?

Easycom: The laptop has a 256MB TurboCache card which use a combination of system and dedicated memory. This GeForce Go 7300 card has 64Mb dedicated memory with the rest dynamically assigned as required.

9-Aug-2007 Joe: I am stuck between this and the Asus F3Jr, i know this has a better ram and is faster but i am worried about the graphics card with only 64 dedicated, can you tell me which would be better from gaming?

Easycom: This model would be fine for gaming.

8-Aug-2007 chris: im looking to replace an Acer 1693 wlmi laptop, the processor has basically ceased to operate and not worth repairing at the costs ive been given. The machine was used quite a lot playing world of warcraft over the last 6 months and im worried that this game is a little too demanding for laptops, as my 1693 always ran really hot when playing and the fan was constantly on. can you confirm whether running this game on something like the 5633 wlmi will reduce the working life of the machine as i assume this is the reason for the breakdown of my existing 1693 model? cheers.

Easycom: This model would be fine for playing games.

10-Aug-2007 ryltar: Hi, i was just wondering what kind of ram this has. "Fast DDR ram" doesn't really explain it. I'm assuming its DDR2 667MHz ?

Easycom: It is indeed DDR2-667

11-Aug-2007 zander: could this laptop play the relatively new ghost recon at decent graphics settings? im slightly confused with graphics card.

Easycom: Yes it would be fine

1-Aug-2007 meg: 160GB is a pretty massive hard drive, does it come partitioned? If Partitioned is it possible to run Vista on one partition and XP on the other as I have rather a ;ot of expensive XP software that I cannot afford to completely upgrade immediately?

Easycom: The hard disc does come partition though you could resize the partitions and add another one for an XP install.

19-Aug-2007 lyndon: would the game s.t.a.l.k.e.r. shadow of chernoble play ok

Easycom: Yes it would

24-Aug-2007 Gemma: Hi will this laptop run Second Life

Easycom: Yes it will

24-Aug-2007 Gemma: Hi would this laptop run Second Life as that is the only real software I would be using so it's important I am sure it will work before buying?

Easycom: Yes it will

17-Aug-2007 nicofee: is it possible to downgrade to win xp pro with this model?

Easycom: Please contact the sales team to discuss downgrading Vista to XP on this laptop.

19-Aug-2007 simon: will this laptop come with an antivirus? If so, how long will it last?

Easycom: This laptop does not come with any antivirus included. I would suggest purchasing a copy of F-Secure Internet Security as if offers complete protection and is easy to use.

20-Aug-2007 Jo: Can you tell me whether I would be able to play Secondlife on this laptop?

Easycom: This laptop offers a good frame rate for second life.

22-Aug-2007 Matt: I am looking at getting either this laptop or the 'Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AXX0X.246' laptop. The usage would be for my A level coursework with excel and word being used, as well as writing html and other computer and software code. The main use as said above would be for coursework, I wouldnt use it for DVDs and the only game I would play would be the origional Halo - I simply want a laptop that can run programmes very quickly - in essence my question is which of the two would be faster at using basic programmes such as; word, excel, dreamweaver, etc? and would it support playing the origional Halo?

Easycom: The two would offer a very similar level of performance in most tasks, due to the combination of graphics card and Core 2 processor the 5633WLmi will offer a slightly higher frame rate for 3D performance.

18-Aug-2007 rob: looking to get our first decent laptop, how does this one rate against the sony vaio vgn-fz11l, about £130 dearer than yours, will be used for online gaming (runescape)and studenting, thanks

Easycom: This is one of our most popular models as it offers a responsible 3D performance at a great price.

19-Aug-2007 Tom: Is this model capeable of runnning the latest solid edge software(for use with engineering and design degree)?

Easycom: Yes it will be fine
