Question from DaveF: Asked on 01/09/2007 Hi I am interested in this laptop but had been looking at the lx.ay30x.091 that now shows sold out (will more be coming in?)because it was core 2 as opposed to duo core only. How good is the graphics package in this model and what would you recommend?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 04/09/2007
The GeForce Go 7300 graphics card in this laptop is capable of handling the most demanding of tasks as it offers excellent 3D performance for both gaming and more significantly in your case CAD design.

Question from Matt: Asked on 22/08/2007 I am looking at getting either this laptop or the 'Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AXX0X.246' laptop. The usage would be for my A level coursework with excel and word being used, as well as writing html and other computer and software code. The main use as said above would be for coursework, I wouldnt use it for DVDs and the only game I would play would be the origional Halo - I simply want a laptop that can run programmes very quickly - in essence my question is which of the two would be faster at using basic programmes such as; word, excel, dreamweaver, etc? and would it support playing the origional Halo?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 30/08/2007
The two would offer a very similar level of performance in most tasks, due to the combination of graphics card and Core 2 processor the 5633WLmi will offer a slightly higher frame rate for 3D performance.

Question from Jo: Asked on 20/08/2007 Can you tell me whether I would be able to play Secondlife on this laptop?

The Acer TravelMate 5720G is a more powerful notebook which I would recommend if you do not mind paying the extra.

Question from nicofee: Asked on 17/08/2007 is it possible to downgrade to win xp pro with this model?

Question from Nat: Asked on 14/08/2007 I'm trying to decide between this laptop (Acer Aspire 5613AWLMi - LX.AY50X.062), the Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AXX0X.246 and the Acer TravelMate 5720G-302G16 LX.TK30X.033. I'm looking for a laptop for home use, with heavy internet/downloading usage, general tasks in Excel etc and a lot of music / movie usage.
My main concern with the 5613 is that it doesn't have the Core 2 Duo chip but I like the higher (1.8 Ghz) processor speed - how will this compare in performance to the 5633 which uses a new Core 2 Duo chip but only has a 1.66 Ghz chip?
The 5720 is obviously a good all-rounder but I would like to keep the price down if possible and am concerned about whether the 5613 would meet all my needs and not be heaps slower than a Core 2 Duo model. Thanks.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 15/08/2007
The Aspire 563WLMi model will offer slightly more performance and a longer battery life due to the Core 2 processor so I would suggest one of them would be best.

Question from chris: Asked on 08/08/2007 im looking to replace an Acer 1693 wlmi laptop, the processor has basically ceased to operate and not worth repairing at the costs ive been given. The machine was used quite a lot playing world of warcraft over the last 6 months and im worried that this game is a little too demanding for laptops, as my 1693 always ran really hot when playing and the fan was constantly on. can you confirm whether running this game on something like the 5633 wlmi will reduce the working life of the machine as i assume this is the reason for the breakdown of my existing 1693 model? cheers.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 30/08/2007
This model would be fine for playing games.

Question from Mbarrow: Asked on 01/08/2007 What are the main differences between this (Acer Aspire 5613AWLMi - LX.AY50X.062) and the Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AY30X.049) bar the built in cam and £100.

I want a laptop that will multi task without losing performance and I wont be using it much for gaming.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 01/08/2007
Either laptop will be adequate though the Aspire 5633 has a web cam and a more power efficient Core 2 Duo processor so it will offer more battery life.

Question from meg: Asked on 01/08/2007 160GB is a pretty massive hard drive, does it come partitioned?
If Partitioned is it possible to run Vista on one partition and XP on the other as I have rather a ;ot of expensive XP software that I cannot afford to completely upgrade immediately?

The hard disc does come partition though you could resize the partitions and add another one for an XP install.

Question from Onu-zap: Asked on 31/07/2007 Both the 5613AWLMi and the 5633WLMi have near enough the same specs, besides the processors (which from another question you replied as giving the same performance), so which one is worth it?

Another concern is that you replied to rupen "The Aspire 5633WLMi will be significantly faster due to the Core 2 processor" however you replied to me that the Core Duo T2350 and the Core 2 Duo T5500 give out similar performance, i think you have mislead me and potentially other people.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 30/08/2007
OK, I will try and clear this up for everyone, the difference between the two notebook is the processor one has a Core Duo the other a Core 2 Duo. For 2D tasks, such as web surfing and office tasks there will be no discernable difference between the two notebooks. For 3D uses such as gaming and CAD design the Core 2 Duo will offer a slightly higher frame rate.

Question from Matt: Asked on 30/07/2007 Excluding the difference in RAM between this and the Aspire 5633WLMi - LX.AY30X.091, which would perform better in regards to graphics? What speed does this processor run at and is it dual core?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 31/07/2007
The Aspire 5613WLMi offers the best graphics performance thanks to the dedicated TurboCache graphics card and the additional memory. The 5633WLMi will offers slightly more battery life as it is a Core 2 Duo processor but if graphics are your main concern the 5613WLMi would be the most suitable.

Question from Mike: Asked on 30/07/2007 How would this laptop fair with 3D animation and redering programs such as Maya when considering the Graphics card is only 64MB dedicated? Can you recomend a 128MB dedicated alternative?

Question from Lewis: Asked on 23/07/2007 What is the difference between the core duo processor that this offers and the later core 2 duo that others offer, does it affect the performance alot? Also I know its a big question but is Intel's core duo technology that it offers better than AMD competition at the same price?

On this model it shows only 64. Are there different versions of the GeForce Go 7300 or something? I would buy this if you can confirm 128mb dedicated graphics. Confused. Thanks.

This is a turbo cache card which has 64MB dedicated but offers the performance of a 256MB card thanks to the fast DDR2 system memory.
