Featuring a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, the LZD85 really shines when hooked up to a HD source such as a Blu-ray player, XBox 360 or Playstation 3 which all support the full 1080P resolution. But dont worry, although most TV channels are waiting to jump aboard the HD wagon, services such as the BBC have HD content on satellite and freeview, so you can enjoy all the details without any of the fuss.
Another feature which caused a stir when this set was released is the Motion Picture 2 feature. Not only does it allow this set to refresh at 100Hz, which is twice as fast as the old tube T.Vs, it will also upgrade the signal from any 50Hz sources such as a DVD player to the full 100Hz. This increases the frame count to allow natural frame-to-frame transitions which results in smooth motion images with high resolution. Not only that, Motion Picture Pro 2 also detects areas with motion and activates backlight blinking for those areas only, greatly enhancing resolution - which for the technophobes out there, means you get a beautifully smooth and detailed picture time after time.
As well as all that, the Panasonic IPS Alpha panel has a wide viewing angle, so the images are crisp and clear when viewed from any angle meaning the same high-quality images can be enjoyed from any seat in the living room.
In addition to brilliant picture quality, the LZD85 has Panasonics VIERA Link and a SD card slot. Firstly, the VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TVs remote control unit and with the SD card slot, you can view a slideshow of your photos on the LZD85s big beautiful screen just by simply remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and popping it in to the slot.
