The 2016 12" MacBook is the latest addition to Apple's notebook lineup, and comes with a few major improvements over the previous version. With the new sixth-generation Intel Skylake Core m5 1.2GHz processer, this space grey model manages to pack in 512GB of PCI-based onboard flash storage and 8GB of 1866MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory. It also features an amazingly slim, fanless design, ultra-thin Retina display, full-size keyboard with Force Touch trackpad, versatile USB-C port and even better 10-11 hour battery life.
At just two pounds and 13.1 mm, it's the thinnest and lightest Mac ever! The stunning 12" Retina display provides a multimillion pixel view for razor sharp text, increased pixel density, high resolution imagery and reduced glare. And with its LED backlighting that's 30% more energy efficient, illumination is more precise in the dark.
The 2016 12" MacBook is powered by the significantly faster 6th generation dual core Intel M processors, and the integrated graphics have also been upgraded to Intel's more powerful 515 module for 25% better performance. Apple have also managed to improve battery performance - this model gives up to 10 hours while browsing the web and 11 hours of continuous movie playback (this is about an hour more than the estimates for the 2015 model). That's more than enough for the average work day or long journey!
As with the previous version, the 12" MacBook comes with a full-size keyboard, as well as the Force Touch trackpad which allows Force Click for tasks like pulling up the definition of a word, quickly seeing a map or previewing a file. With Multi-Touch in OS X you can use realistic gestures to bring a deeper connection to your content, along with more functionality to your fingertip.
It also features the incredibly compact USB-C port which supports power, Mini DisplayPort, VGA, HDMI and USB through adaptors for data transfer, video out and charging in a single connector. This has been engineered to enable your Mac and iOS devices to be connected like never before! If you're working with large files, Thunderbolt 2 connectivity will provide up to 20Gbps of bandwidth to each external device.
