Creative background blur

The EF 100mm f/2.8 USM features eight rounded aperture blades, allowing for creative background blur which helps to make the subject stand out. With a 1.0x magnification, the lens also has a focusing limiter switch which limits the focus range to improve the AF speed.

Autofocus quickly and almost silently

Making use of Canon's ring USM auto focus system, the EF 100mm f/2.8 USM allows you to focus on your subject quickly, accurately and virtually silently. You can also fine-tune the focus instantly with full-time manual focus override using a large ring that does not rotate during auto focus. This helps to keep you in control at all times to capture the ideal shots.

Super Spectra coatings

Shots taken with the EF 100mm f/2.8 USM will have accurate colour balance and high contrast as a result of Super Spectra coatings.  This also helps to suppress flare and ghosting by absorbing any light that might be reflected off internal lens elements and the image sensor.
