Above are the connections on this product you will notice there is no connections for video.

You can do either but if you want to close the lid you would have to adjust the power management in the operating system so it doesn't go into sleep/ standby mode.

Works with any computer as they all have USB. It would not power a laptop though so you will have to connect the Ac adapter directly to the laptop.

Yes, its a universal port that connects via usb so will work with any laptop with usb. (thats all of them these days.)
