If you have broadband ADSL (running through a BT line), then this Wireless Router will enable you to browse the internet in your home without having any of the PCs switched on. You can also share the internet connection allowing you to wirelessly browse the net and send and receive emails from anywhere within the home.

Yes this router will be fine. It takes about two minutes to set up and most of it is automatic.

No but I thought Aol was through a phone line in which case you would need a adsl router not a cable one

Do you have a wireless router? If not then you would need one to connect the laptop to the internet. If you have, then it maybe a fault with the laptop or the adapter.

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, which is a term that covers a lot of services, including ADSL. The A in ADSL stands for Asymmetric - This means the upload speed is slower than the download speed (they are not symmetrical). Most if not all phoneline-based broadband in the UK is ADSL, as the upload speeds are considerably slower than the download speeds.

There are two kinds of router out there at the moment. Cable (Virgin) and ADSL (phone line, such as BT, SKY, Tiscali)
If you have a normal phone line then that router will work for you.

This has an integrated modem so you would put the same settings into this as you put into the speedtouch and plug it straight into the phone socket. You will then no longer need to use the speedtouch modem.

Yes, if those are wireless devices then they will all connect to this router without wires.

You dont need anything else, plug the desktop PC and the modem into the router with network cable and then you can enable the wireless connection from the router's configuration page.

Unfortunately not, as routers work with ethernet connections and the modem you specificy is USB (Im presuming the little blue Sagem one?). Therefore you will need a modem router which will replace your existing modem then allow you to share the connection. Have a look at product code DG834PN.

No it doesn't however we do sell both internal wireless network cards and USB wireless network adapters. However if your PC already has a network card then it can be connected through an Ethernet connection.

If you get your broadband over the telephone line you need an ADSL modem if you get your internet over a cable connection (Virgin Media) you need a cable router.
