The Acer Aspire 8920 is the 18.4" widescreen notebook with FULL HD 1920x1080 resolution designed to immerse the most advanced home entertainment users into the Gemstone blue concept.

5-Jun-2008 FireShadow: Is it true GPU Drivers for this laptop are only available from ACER? You can not obtain mobile drivers from NVIDIA.

Easycom: You can get the graphics drivers from NVIDIA.

Easycom: Yes it should run this game easyly.

Easycom: It doesnt have the VOIP phone, SP1 might be pre-installed but it cant be guaranteed, as this is subject to change depending on when each batch was manufactured.

Easycom: You wont find many machines with this specification shipping with XP now, it might be best to obtain a separate copy of XP and install it yourself, the drivers can be obtained from Acer.

13-Jul-2008 Dougie: Does this laptop have a factory restore facility i.e. Restore back to factory settings.

Easycom: Yes this laptop has eRecovery software which allows you to create your own restore discs or partitions that allows you to restore the laptop back to default settings.

Easycom: The CPU and GPU are upgradeable but this will void the warranty. The Core 2 Extreme is compatible. It is not possible to increase the memory to over 4GB.

Easycom: Unfortunately, this model can only read blu-ray discs it cannot write them

28-Aug-2008 Wind-pig: I'm looking to purchase a laptop for video editing. Do any of your laptops come with firewire? I'm looking at the Acer Aspire 8920G Gemstone Blue Laptop.

Easycom: The 8920G does not use Firewire, in favour of using High-Speed USB2.0 instead. If you need firewire, look at the 9920G or 7720G - Please check the technical specification before buying, as some models do not have the firewire port - but the ones with it will have it listed under 'Expansion/Connectivity - Interfaces' in the technical specification. Look for IEEE 1394 or Firewire (same thing).
